Liz Borda was born and raised in New York. She graduated from Hunter College with a double major in Media Studies and Art Studio. She studied photojournalism at Ohio University's graduate program. Currently, she is a freelance photographer and is based in New York.

Liz received a 3rd place Ippies Award for Best Photo Essay or Online Slideshow in 2012 for the group piece We Contain Multitudes in the The Indypendent and 2nd Place in Visual Arts at the Ohio University Student Expo in 2010. She received the Nikon Vision - Santa Fe Workshops Scholarship in 2008, Santa Fe Workshops Scholarship in 2007 and was selected to participate in the Focus on Monferrato Project in Italy in 2006.
